BEIJING, Dec. 16 (Xinhuanet) — Another series of food safety scandals, and this time, it’s China’s high-end liquor industry that’s feeling the heat. It started last month when plasticizer was found in Bai Jiu produced by Jiuguijiu.

北京，12月16日（新華網）— 又一食品系列的安全醜聞，這次輪到中國的高端白酒行業處於水深火熱之中。上個月開始，酒鬼酒生產的白酒被發現含有有塑化劑。

Plasticizers can harm the liver, kidneys and reproductive system. Now, another famous drink – Moutai Jiu – made by Kweichow Moutai – has been accused by an anonymous report of also containing the chemical.

塑化劑會傷害肝臟、腎臟和生殖系統。現在，另一個著名酒業—茅臺酒—由貴州茅臺生產—被匿名舉報也含有塑化劑。

Kweichow Moutai suspended stock market trading for one day, after the report from Hong Kong was posted online. The report shows 3.3 milligrams of plasticizer — that’s nearly 50 percent above Hong Kong health limits. The Hong Kong report was posted by a person with the nickname “Shui Jinghuang”. He said he sent the sample to Hong Kong because he didn’t get a reply from Moutai in time.

香港的報告在網上發佈之後，貴州茅臺暫停股票市場交易一天。香港報告顯示有3.3毫克的塑化劑—這比香港的衛生限制超過將近50%。香港的報告是一個綽號叫“水晶皇”的人發佈的。他說因爲沒有從茅臺公司及時得到回覆，才把樣品送到香港檢測的。

The following day, the company quoted findings by the national food supervision body and other organizations, which say its liquor meets national standards. Kweichow Moutai responded, saying it doubts the credibility of the test. The company pointed out that there’s no batch identification of the sample and that the layout appears to be faked.

第二天，該公司援引由國家食品監管機構和其他組織的調查結果，表示它的酒符合國家標準。貴州茅臺表示，他們懷疑香港那份報告的可信度。該公司指出，樣品沒有批次識別，很明顯是僞造的。

Yuan Renguo, Board Chairman of Kweichow Moutai, said, “Someone wanted to take advantage of public food safety awareness. They’ve made up this food safety issue. They wanted to create panic, do harm to China’s liquor industry and the interests of investors, in order to make quick money for themselves. ”

貴州茅臺的董事會主席袁仁國表示，“有人想利用公衆食品安全意識。他們編造了這次食品安全問題。他們爲了使自己賺快錢，想製造恐慌，危害中國白酒行業和投資者的利益。”

Moutai’s chief engineer, Wang Li, says she’s confident about Moutai’s quality.

茅臺的首席工程師王麗表示，她對茅臺的質量有信心。

That remains the simple question puzzling people across the country.
