美國上修第三季度GDP至2.1%

The US economy grew faster than initially thought in the third quarter, with the strong momentum likely to further bolster the Federal Reserve’s case for an interest rate hike next month.

美國經濟第三季度增速快於最初估算，強勁的增長勢頭可能使美聯儲(Federal Reserve)更有理由下月啓動加息。

Gross domestic product expanded at a 2.1 per cent annual pace, up from the 1.5 per cent rate reported last month, the Commerce Department said on Tuesday in its second GDP estimate for the June-September period.

美國商務部(Commerce Department)週二公佈對第三季度國內生產總值(GDP)的第二次估算時表示，GDP按年率計算增長2.1%，高於上月預估的1.5%。

The GDP report comes as the Fed signalled that it will consider raising rates at its next meeting in December.

此次GDP報告的出爐正值美聯儲表示將考慮在12月的會議上啓動加息。

Although third-quarter growth remains well below the 3.9 per cent rate recorded for the second quarter, the solid numbers — fuelled by improved consumer spending — should reinforce the view among US policymakers that the economy is on a steady growth trajectory.

雖然第三季度經濟增速仍遠低於第二季度錄得的3.9%，但這些強勁數據——由消費者加大支出驅動——應當會讓美國的政策制定者們更加堅信國內經濟處於穩定增長的軌道。
