歐盟提案全面禁用一次性塑料製品

The European Union has proposed a ban on many single-use plastics such as straws, cutlery and cotton buds, to come in force by 2025.

近日，歐盟針對吸管、餐具和棉籤等一次性塑料製品提出一項禁令，預計將於2025年前生效。

There would also be a move to force EU member states to collect 90% of the plastic bottles used for drinks, potentially through deposit refund schemes.

歐盟還可能採取一項行動，通過押金償還制度迫使歐盟成員國回收90%用於裝飲料的塑料瓶。

The proposals are part of a drive in Brussels to tackle pollution from plastic waste, which is now showing up in the food chain.

The European Commission estimates that these rules, once fully implemented in 2030, could cost businesses over EUR3 billion per year. But they could also save consumers about EUR6.5 billion per year, create 30,000 jobs, and avoid EUR22 billion in environmental damage and cleanup costs.

據歐盟委員會估計，一旦這些法令於2030年全面實施，每年將使企業花費逾30億歐元，但同時每年也爲消費者節省約65億歐元，增加就業崗位3萬個，避免造成的環境損害和清潔成本達220億歐元。

"Plastic waste is undeniably a big issue and Europeans need to act together to tackle this problem," the EU's First Vice President, Frans Timmermans, said.

"The proposals will reduce single-use plastics on our supermarket shelves through a range of measures," he added.
