劉翔在今天舉行的倫敦奧運會男子110米欄預賽中，跨第一個欄時重重摔倒，比4年前“鳥巢”因傷退賽那一幕更爲慘烈。劉翔用單腳跳向終點，贏得全場觀衆熱烈掌聲。中國田徑隊總教練馮樹勇在新聞發佈會上透露了劉翔的傷情：“根據醫生的初步診斷，懷疑劉翔右腳跟腱斷裂，傷情還需要進一步確認。”

Liu Xiang suffered a suspectedruptured Achilles tendonas he crashed out of the Olympic Games on Tuesday, a team official confirmed, plunging the Chinese hurdler's future into doubt.

Liu, 29, exited the Games after smashing into the first obstacle of his 110m hurdles heat, four years after he was forced to withdraw from the event at the 2008 Beijing Games.

China's athletics team leader in London, Feng Shuyong, later revealed Liu had possibly snapped his Achilles, a recurrence of a problem which had dogged the 2004 Olympic champion for years despite intensive treatment.

文中的“ruptured Achilles tendon”就是“跟腱斷裂”的意思，“Achilles tendon”是指“跟腱”，“Achilles”這個詞是指希臘神話裏的阿喀琉斯，他除腳踵外，渾身刀槍不入，所以Achilles'heel用來指“致命要害”。“rupture”是指“破裂”。110米欄的英文表達是“110m hurdles”，hurdle是指“欄杆”，而“hurdler”是指“跨欄選手”。
