第724期:​A long face真的不是大長臉, 如何用face表達你的情緒呢?

看到“A long face”，你的第一反應是什麼呢？難不成是“長臉”的意思嗎？ 其實“A long face”指的是“板着臉”、拉長着臉”、“不高興”。

A long face = an unhappy or gloomy; feeling disappointed or depression

long face可不是“中式英語”，因爲全人類不高興時，恐怕都會拉長臉，所以，long face 並不是Chinglish喲！

Why are you pulling a long face, Jack?

傑克，你爲什麼拉長着臉呢 ?

Sara had such a long face yesterday after she learned that she failed her exam.

莎莉昨天知道考試不及格後，就哭喪着臉。

當別人心情不好，很沮喪時，

你關心他，就可以說：

Why the long face? = We use this expression when we notice that another person is sad or not happy and we want to ask why.

爲什麼不高興了？什麼事情惹到你了？

Duck face

2014年被加入到牛津詞典中

據牛津詞典的解釋：Someone's face when their lips are pushed outwards, especially in photographs.

Duck face（鴨嘴臉），

指的是 “噘嘴自拍的誇張表情”。嘟着嘴自拍

Emma is obsessed with taking duck face selfies. I've really had enough!
