愛倫坡經典英語詩歌：To HELEN 致海倫

據作者愛倫坡説，這首詩是為中學一位同學的年輕母親斯丹娜夫人而作，寫的是“我的靈魂的第一次純潔、理想的愛”。從詩裏提到的地理、歷史背景來看，對斯丹娜夫人的愛慕和對古希臘史詩《伊利亞特》中的絕世美人海倫的景仰合二為一。而在最後一節裏，對不可企及的美人的傾倒又昇華為對藝術——甚至是對真、善、美的無窮無盡的追求。因為在西文人心中，古代的希臘和羅馬已成為一種理想的境界，那裏的一切似乎都是至美與至善的。　

Helen，thy beauty is to me

Like those Nicèan barks of yore

That gently, o'er a perfumed sea,

The weary way-worn wanderer bore

To his own native shore.

海倫哦，我眼裏你的美麗
