"Come in," God said to me, "so, you would like tointerview Me?"

“進來”，上帝 對我說，“你想採訪我?”

"If you have the time," I said.

He smiled through His beard and said: "My time iscalled eternity and is enough to do everything; what questions do you have in mind to ask me?"

"None that are new to you. What's the one thing that surprises you most about mankind?"

He answered: "That they get bored of being children, are in a rush to grow up, and then long tobe children again. That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money torestore their health. That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, suchthat they live neither for the present nor the future. That they live as if they will never die, andthey die as if they never had never lived..."

上帝 回答道：“人類在做孩子的時候感到無聊，盼望着長大，長大後又嚮往着返回童年;他們浪費自己的健康去贏得個人的財富，然後又浪費自己的財富去重建自身的健康;他們焦慮地憧憬未來，忘記了眼前的生活，活得既不是爲了現在也不是爲了將來;他們活得似乎永遠不會死，他們死得也好像從來沒活過…”

His hands took mine and we were silent. After a long period, I said, "May I ask you anotherquestion?"

He replied with a smile.

"As a Father, what would you ask your children to do for the new year?"
