yet用於否定句和疑問句中及用於表示懷疑的動詞之後,意思是“還,尚,仍然,直至現在”,在英式英語中通常用於現在或過去完成時,在美式英語中通常用於一般過去時。

yet用於疑問句中,還可作“已經”“還”“仍然”解,通常放在句末。

yet用於肯定句中,可表示“還”“尚”,有時含有“還爲時太早”之意; 與形容詞或副詞的比較級連用時意爲“甚至,更”“還要”,與最高級連用意爲“到目前〔當時〕爲止(最…)”。

yet還可與表示未來含意的情態習語be to或have to連用構成“be yet to”或“have yet to”結構。
