在餐廳門口受到熱情友善的迎候會令顧客感到心情愉悅。一名優秀的迎賓員不只是把顧客帶到座位上就完成工作,還應該在引領顧客的過程中,讓顧客感受到其代表餐廳所表現出來的尊重和關心。下面就介紹一些相關的常用英文表達:[qh]
①見到客人應熱情地表示歡迎:“Good morning/afternoon/evening. Welcome to XX Restaurant.”(上午/下午/晚上好,歡迎光臨XX餐館。)如果是常客,應該能夠稱呼出客人的姓氏,如:“Good afternoon.Mr. Smith.”(下午好,史密斯先生。)[qh]
②歡迎過後應詢問客人:“Do you have a reservation?” (您有預訂嗎?)“How many in your party, please?”(請問有幾位?) “Party of two?"(一共兩個人嗎?)。[qh]
③爲客人引路時,必須配合其步速,走在客人兩三步之前帶路,並以手勢禮貌地作方向指引,如: “This way, please.”(這邊請。)途中若遇有臺階或特殊情況,應事先警告:“Mind the step.”(小心碰頭)“Mind your head.please.”(小心碰頭。)若容人帶有小孩,應該提醒客人照管好小孩,如:“Please take care of your child.”(請照管好您的小孩。)[qh]
④若因餐廳客滿而不得不讓客人共用餐桌時,應事先徵得雙方同意:“Would you mind sharing a table?”(您介意與別人共用一張桌子嗎?)[qh]
⑤若因餐廳客滿而不得不讓客人等待時,可以說:“I'm afraid all our tables are taken.”(恐怕我們已客滿。)“Would you mind waiting for a while?”(您介意等一會兒嗎?)並準確告知顧客需要等待的時間。如:“There will be about 15 minutes before your table is available.” (您需要等大約15分鐘。)等到有空位時,就立即引客人入座,並向客人表達歉意,如:“We are sorry for the delay.”(很抱歉,耽擱了您的時間。)或者說“Thank you for your waiting.”(讓您久等了。)[qh]
