英語口語練習小對話 第16期:未婚職業女性

習語：a bachelor girl

講解：Bachelor通常是指“未婚男子”，即“單身漢”，但是與girl連用時就是指“未婚女人”了，此語特指“不依靠別人，自己維持生活的女人”。目前，在英美國家，指“未婚職業婦女”，與漢語口語中的“女強人”有相似之處。

你知道Sally嗎？

Sb has a face that would stop a clock. （One's face would stop a clock.）某人極爲醜陋。

Eg. You can hardly imagine that a handsome man like Li Tong would marry a girl like Sun Li who has a face that would stop the clock.

knock-out 非常漂亮引人注目的人（用來指女性）

Eg. She is gorgeous, a total knock-out with a killer body and she's just my dream girl.

devote to 把 ... 獻於, 把 ... 用於

Eg. The time he can spare from the adornment of his person he devote to the neglect of his duty.

他把花在打扮上的時間省下來，卻用到了玩忽職守上去。

Quite the other way round. 完全相反。

這是個省略句。完整的句子爲——It is the other way round. 這正好想法。加上quite，就是完全相反。
